The Wonderful World Of Weird

OK, don't call the men in white coats, with the sports jacket that ties in the back after you read this.  I have not gone crazy, nor am I a candidate for the laughing academy.
But I do believe in UFOs.
There, I said it.
NOW, that being said, there are certain aspects of the whole phenomenon that I DO questions, as there are a lot of folks out there making claims, that do show they are a few crayons short of a full box.
But somewhere amidst it all is the truth.
Why am I writing about this?  Well I'll tell ya.  First, as I have said in recent blogs my family has been visiting off and on these last couple months, and My Dad is staying in Ruskin for a while and happily has been able to spend many weekends hanging out with us and being a Grandad.  Something I will admit is sorely missing in the lives of my children.  Until this year my kids had VERY little interaction with ANY of their extended family.  It's nice to have "NO" reinforced by an older generation.  It makes the kids stop and say "Hey, why is someone OTHER then Mom And Dad setting us straight?"
Well at one such visit my dad and I were chewing the fat and he noticed a T-Shirt that my sister sent me for Christmas,  for the Exeter, NH UFO festival

Now any of you folks not familiar with the "Exeter Incident" check out http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Exeter_incident for a brief overview.  If that tantalizes  your curiosity there are about 1 million 650 thousand  more entries on the subject, so you won't be lacking on info.
So anyway, I Grew up in   a UFO hot bead (I'm sure some of you are now saying "so THAT explains it!"
(even got a chance to see one once, when we lived in Brentwood NH, I was 10 years old just before twilight, Me and about 20 other people saw it.  Have to tell you about it sometimes)
Upon seeing it, my Dad began to reminisce.  He and my mom lived in Stratham NH at the time, just over the border of Exeter, and they could see out to the Horizon where it occurred.  he tells of strange ethereal lights, undulating as if alive, bizarre combinations of fog, and mist, and bright lights.  You could hear all the animals in the neighborhood wailing and howling, they had a big dog at the time who ended up squirming his way UNDER the couch, he was so terrified, then the lights from police, and helicopters and the like.  The weather became odd, and the whole scene was quite eerily surreal.
Well with that in the back of my head, last night Angela and I were flipping through the Chanel's, relaxing for the night and I stumbled on the History channel and sat transfixed with two episodes of this Mystery type shows first about the Bermuda Triangle, then about "Ancient astronauts"  and it wasn't some out of date re-run, but newer info the sparked in me some thoughts.  Seems that they are beginning to find more and more evidence of man made structures UNDER  water in places off the coast of Japan in the "Dragons Triangle"www.ancient-wisdom.co.uk/underwater.htm" and more recently of the coast of India in Kawhmbat "www.hvk.org/articles/0102/137.html
and China "www.morien-institute.org/yonaguni.html" and of course of the coast of Cuba in the Bermuda triangle "www.physicsforums.com/showthread.php?t=86402"
So, I can be skeptical about things and I always want proof, BUT this all seems a little to fantastic to be "Natural" formations or a hoax or whatever.  JUST imagine for a moment, if you look at the lay out of these structures, that perhaps PRE ice age, when the landmass's that now make up our world were joined one ENORMOUS city, spanning the Continent, a city of riches and technologies far advanced then what we are today, that were in effect scientifically capable of knowing that a great shift was going to occur in the landmasses, as we now fear may happen in California but in a MASSIVE scale?  I know it sound WAY to Sci Fi. but if you suspend disbelief, and think practical it would explain ALOT of phenomenons.
Have you ever seen "Forbidden Planet"?  Great early 50's "serious" sci Fi, go out and rent it. ANY WAY, the "Bad Guy" in the flick Dr Morbious has discovered remnants of an ancient civilization on this planet, and kept the technology for himself as he deemed humans were "Not ready" for such advanced tech.
OK so I steal from that film.
NOW, look at the work of Tesla, and his dealings with radiant energy.  He theorized (and proved) that you could generate massive amounts of energy through a "Tesla coil" and emit that energy into the atmosphere where it could be picked up be "receivers" (like a light bulb) and you would have an instant source of power.  NO WIRES,NO PLUGS...nothing (yep, it really DID work!) He However was WAY ahead of his time and through a matter of bad timing, (and Westinghouse) he lost funding and...nothing.
Anyway, steal idea from him.
NOW what if...? Some ancient civilization, with enormous technological advancement (which you can see in a variety of historical human references all over the world, of underwater deep diving suits, flying machines, computers, batteries, and more significantly a 12th century Chinese map that shows distinct green landmasses in Greenland BEFORE the Ice age, that were not able to be confirmed until a survey mission by the Britt's in circa 1946!) had this enormous city(s) spanning the solid land mass, they  get there power by some (unknown to us) power source dealing in radiant energy, possibly magnetic in nature (hey we've been toying with the concept for decades) The Culture flourishes for generation after generation, until something happens, perhaps nothing more then impending natural disaster or maybe something more sinister.  (the Indian culture tells of a war that occurs between Vishnu and another (sorry forgot the name) that includes the use of "Lightning and fire" from the skies to which was met from "Bolts of lightning" from the ground. Etc, etc)  Whatever may be the cause the remnants of this once great culture, disappear beneath the encroaching seas.  Whether the surviving inhabitants "escaped" to the stars, or perished, or eventually became us (I know what you are saying "Where's all the tech?" Well look at all the social experiments that have been conducted with people severed from "Society" and "technology" they eventually revert to a semi-barbaric state, and when survival is key, knowledge is lost) So now the bulk of this culture and all it's power and tech is sitting below the ocean. Here's the rub, their power generation is so good, and over generations so refined that it's still working!  Maybe not as good or as effective, but it's still out there located at critical points of the globe (both the Bermuda triangle and dragons triangle sit on the 25th parallel.  A good, central location to relay energy) looking for a receiver.  When planes and ships are going through there compasses don't work, weird lights, massive energy spikes, magnetic clouds?  What I'd love to see is a test of a Tesla receptor in that area. I mean think about it.  America uses a different kind of electricity then Europe, you bring a hair dryer from America to England, it's fired!  And we are on the same planet.  Maybe it's nothing more then Our energy is not compatible with theirs, so it goes all screwy!  Food for thought.
I just think it's FASCINATING that just when we thought we knew everything they are finding all these oddities that the general scientific and archaeological society dismisses out of hand, in favor of a hypothesis more befitting their conjecture.
Why are they afraid of being wrong?
And in the end you ask yourselves " what the HELL does any of this have to do about bikes!?"
