Grab Your Shield and Lance, It's A New Day!

Don't you just LOVE the demeanor of employees who have no vested interest in your sanity?
So, checked the bank accounts this morning and sure enough, STILL void of what should be there!  Once again, Jonny up on the phone, and after a series of pauses and holds was informed, matter-of-factly (at least by the credit card processors) that the funds had been released, and should be in there tomorrow.  No apologies, no explanations just an audible shrug of the shoulders from their end.  When pressed, they could offer NO reason WHY the funds had been held up, and more alarmingly, had I not called them out on it yesterday, the problem would never have been noticed or rectified.  Of course, after talking to the manager, his only reaction to the glitch was "we'll look into it".  The Universal brush off, tinged with a "don't hold your breath!"
As far as the other matter.  Still a "wait and see" approach to find out if the funds are kicked back to them.  However, I don't think this lot of criminals is used to someone being "persistent".  I can only imagine they utilize the same run around with most folks, and that there are some who get fed up and write the money off as a loss.  Well, not me, if on principle alone I will hunt them down!
Yesterday was ICKY.  It was as if nature itself felt obligated to frame the dismally frustrating day in an unceasing curtain of torrential rain!  No soul, regardless of how staunch, saw fit to brave the storm and pay us a visit, much less anywhere else.  The plaza was a ghost town, the streets themselves were quite light as well.  I focused my energies on completing the back log of repairs we had but only after the wee ones headed back home.  Thankfully, their return trip was a relatively dry one, as they escaped the confines of the shop in briefly calm skies.  So to, was our return home, thankfully, allowing us a respite in order to make it home, unpruned.  Of course, one saving grace, was the light break in the storm right at twilight allowed for a gorgeous sunset!  Yes, I will forever TRY and see the bright spots in otherwise daunting days!
Today, looks to be  good one, weather wise, and I have high hopes folks will venture out and enjoy the simple pleasures.
Me?  I'm going to finish up the last repair (a VERY unique looking vintage Schwinn Tandem, that someone had the patience to take the time to individually glue a LARGE collection of faux gems on!  Imagine my trepidation at attempting to clamp the frame in my rack!) then get busy with the newbies!  We SOOOO need some "under $100.00 bikes in the line!
So, with that, chin up, chest out, deep breath and Suck it up and press on!!

Oh Man, It HAS To Be Monday!

Boy, that classic 80's song "If I Had A Rocket Launcher" is ringing in my head....LOUDLY.
Sad reality is, we don't seem to be allowed to hold onto "good" feelings for very long!  Yes, I know, now you are all sighing and saying to yourself "Oh no, here he goes again" but, I am trying to keep smiling!  See, we had a REALLY good day yesterday!  Got the shop all spruced up, went home, did our chores, got the kids fed, clothed and put to bed then hung out for the evening having a grand time!
The reason for my frustration is merely a continuation of last weeks issues regarding the pilfered funds from our account.  They say they deposited it, but the bank has no record of it, but it may still be processing and I have to wait up to two business days to see if it comes through!  Try telling my creditors that!  ON TOP OF THIS, I checked our other account to discover the creit cards have not deposited in five days, upon calling them, they stated there was a hold put on the deposit, but could not tell me why!  Of course, they would relese the funds, but it would take up to two days to deposit!
ARRRRRGHHHHH!
THIS is why I HATE banks!!!  And people wonder why we held out for six years on the credit card band wagon before we started taking them!  There is NOOOO lag time on CASH!
ANYWAY'S!
The wee ones are back in the shop, and surprisingly, being of little trouble.  Well, either that, or I'm just getting used to their brand of behaivior!  LOL! Momma almost had a kid free day to relax, but Logan is home sick with a mild fever and a whopping headache, although I hold true to the fact his headache is caused by hour upon hour of watching videos and playing games on the tiny screen of his cell phone.  Of course, according to him there is NO way that could be the reason!  What do I know!  I'm not a teenager, therefore I don't have a CLUE!
It was very nice (the brief moment I got to enjoy it) to come into a fresh, relatively clean, spruced up shop this morning!  All my gratitude to Angi for helping me make it so yesterday!
Today, I have to spend the AM banging out some repairs then it's on to NEWBIES!!!  Got in a truckload Saturday just before close, and there are THREE classic BIG BOY ten speeds in it!  SAH-WEEEEET!!!!
As promised, below are the ones we put out on Saturday, take a long, lustful lingering look at these Lovlies, and TRY and tell me they wouldn't look good underneath you!
....wait, that doesn't sound right...
ANYWAY, I gotta git!
See ya soon!

CLEANING DAY!!!!!

We finally broke down and did it!  After looking at grimy walls and off level pictures, not to mention way to much clutter,  Angi offered to come up today and help me clean, organize and redecorate!  I've gotten in several more chotskies that needed to go up, and with her flair. We touched up paint, and rehung the goodies!  It looks SOOO much better!  Now i just need to clean the floors. However,  we had a gent come in for some repairs,  and he runs a floor cleaning service,  so gonna do a little barter!  Sweet!
It was nice having Angi back in the shop, been too long.  Was a lot like the old shop days when we were schlepping out of the garage.  I know shes chomping at the bit to get back to her own job,  but I hope she gets to come around more in the future.
Needless to say,  nothing new built, but we got five out yesterday, and I'll add the pics tomorrow. Now,  it's shower time!
See y'all tomorrow!

SHA-WING!

Well, today is going to be a whirlwind of activity!!  Angela was kind enough to let me fly solo today, sans kiddo's, as yesterday was a bit of a challenge with the wee ones  Not to mention the grade schoolers who came in the afternoon, wreaking havoc.  So, today I have my hands free to get some REAL work done!  Oh, that's not to say I was completely stagnant yesterday, oh nay, nay! Put out three newbies and a couple are REAL gems!  We'll get to that in a half a mo'! Had the regular slew of repairs to get caught up on, and of course, the moment I get my hands REALLY dirty, the girls would need me, so I had to "work smart" so as to not get greasy hand prints all over them!   I dedicated the morning to computer work (hey, it takes a LOT of time to update all our listings on an archaic laptop who's A,E,X and R buttons stick!) then once Kaleb had picked them up, dove in hard to pumping out some rides!  Got in a sweet older Trek 7000 ZX mountain bike!  Needed A LOT of work, but the paint was in good shape and this is a LIGHT one!  WOOF!  No heavy shocks to weigh you done!  LOVE the wide bars on it!  Also got in an Elektra "Swing" cruiser.  Nice Big Boy frame, and a classic look!  And rounded out the batch with a low price "DAILY BANGER SPECIAL" in the way of a clean looking ladies 24" MTB!  Also, managed to get an older Huffy cruiser down to frame and cleaned up, and will be finishing it shortly (you have NO idea how difficult that sentence was, having to retype "A" a dozen times!!!)
After that, I hope to bang out a few more before day's end.  Tomorrow I have set aside the dream of FINALLY doing some serious cleaning,  little paint touch up on the now two year old grimy walls, and switch around some of the chotskies, as I have been accumulating quite a bit more. Winter time has always been our "Spring Cleaning" and I am behind schedule and tripping over a lot of sh...tuff!
ANYWHO, best get back at it!
Remember...It IS Saturday!  Weekend riding IS here!

..........Cheesus!

What I want to know is, exactly why is it, when you are under a deadline to accomplish something, do all the twists and turns and malicious humor of fate throw every nagging obstacle at you along the way?  Case in point.  In trying to rectify a snafu at our bank (don't EVER let your account number get onine!) and get certain funds refunded to or account, I have had to jump through a myriad of hoops.  I finally thought I had it rectified yesterday, the culprits falsely collecting a "fee" from a service we were merely inquiring about, online, admitted the "error" (yea RIGHT!) and would refund the amount.
HOWEVER...
When I called back yesterday (and endured the prerequisite holds, delays and transfers) I was informed that an email had been sent out earlier that day requested "bank verification" of my account and routing number.  Oh, they had no problem taking the money OUT of our account, but they were experiencing difficulty putting it back IN!  Of course, I did not get the E-Mail (not even in SPAM) and did not get through to them until 3 minuets before the bank closed in the afternoon!
SOOOO, this morning, had to rush to the bank to get the info, then rush back, email it in, and am waiting STILL to find out of it has been processed yet!  And of course, the Internet and my computer seem to be susceptible to the cold, and choose to run REALLY slow!
ARRRRRGHHHHH!!!!
I either need Advil or a bullet!
ANYWHO!  Speaking of cold, I hear The Devil himself is practicing for the Winter Games!
brrrrrrrr!
Of course, in Florida, any climate change plus or minus ten degrees of 78 sends it's inhabitants scurrying for climate controlled comfort, refusing to leave their Bio Domes.  This, needless to say, slows our days down somewhat.  Not too many worries, though, as I have plenty to keep me busy in catching up.  Not to mention a day long MST3K marathon (and I just got their riff on "Santa Clause Conquers the Martians!"  No...I'm not kidding...it's a REAL movie!)
After all the repairs, I got through the full rebuild on the Fila, she came out looking really sweet, and moved on to the tear down and cleaning on a soon to be GORGEOUS Trek 7000 MTB!  This thing is super light, and is going to be a monster in the dirt!
SO, I am going to jump back on it.  Got one repair to bang out then onto the goodies!
Special shout out to Marcus for the generous tip this morning when he came in for his repairs.  A little something to get a treat for the girl.  However, he forgot to put on his glasses and handed me 2 20's and three one's!  He seemed perplexed at my surprise until I pointed out he gave me nearly $60.00 for a ten dollar repair!
See ya soon!

In The Not To Distant Future, Somewhere In Time Or Space....

Ooooooo!  Like a kid in a candy store!
Recently, for my viewing pleasure, I had the thrill of acquiring several selections of one of the most all time BRILLIANT comedic shows, Mystery Science Theatre 3000!  Needless to say, on a day such as this, as I will be banging around on several new builds (all the repairs being caught up with!  Thanks to all for thinking of us and continuing to visit!) I have a plethora of new material to listen too!  SAH-WEET!  I think viewing "Manos: The Hands Of Fate" continuously, while hilarious, is wearing out my copy!
Yesterday, while not as busy, visitor wise, kept me jumping none the less!  Tore down the Fila for  rebuild, which, due to my anal retentive eye for detail, became a re-paint.  Just not up to snuff without it!  Uncle Chippie was in earlier, saw the frame and had no idea it was the same bike.  ALSO, got in a Electra cruiser, that too, has been tore down and cleaned up and will be reassembled while the next coat of paint dries on the Fila.
Did manage to get one out, after the rush.  This one is a nice looking ladies 26" Trek Antelope 800, check out the pic below.
I send a shout out to Angi and Elijah, who were kind enough to give me a break from Daddy Day Care, and let the girls hang at the house today so I can get some work done.  Speaking of which, just got a truck load of repairs in from The Sea Captain down on Clearwater Beach, so I need to get them assessed.
Will talk to you later!

A Blustery Day, Pooh!

HOLY MOLEY!!
What a whiz bang Hullaballoo of a Hootenanny!
Yesterday was just CAH-RAZY busy!!!
Thanks to ALL the great folks that kept me running!  Back to back repairs, and as a sign of just HOW busy, I actually have FIVE sitting here I could not get to yesterday!  But, in my defense, those all came in the last hour of the day!  ALSO managed to build and put out FIVE newbies!  And not a moment to soon as we sold FIVE to boot!  Only three went home, as two were sold out of Bone Row pre-rebuild!  Yes, Uncle Chippie, the Fila was one of the two!  That one is going home (when I get it DONE) with a very tenacious young lass who has visited us four time in the last two weeks looking for the perfect commuter back and forth to work! YAY!  Another success at weaning someone from the petroleum teet!  WA-HOOOO!!
What turned out to be a gorgeous Schwinn Frontier Cross sold seven minuets after completion in the AM yesterday.  Didn't even get a chance to show it off on Craigslist!  The Nishiki Colorado didn't last long either, and went home with a very unlikely gent!  Shows me not to judge a book by it's cover!  A young man who kind of hangs out around the plaza, has been in to chat many a time, but never much an interest in bikes.  More DVD's then anything.  Quite frankly, had the bearings of today's "lost" youth.  No apparent drive or ambition's.  Seems something has changed that as he now needs a ride to get around and look for a job!  Good on ya, mate!  One of the rides from Bone Row (the MTB donated by the lady who didn't want to "feel like a criminal"!) was rebuilt in record time as the young man picking it out needed it to get to his new job he starts today, and came in only around five pm! UGH!  luckily, she didn't need all that much to get up and running!
And there was one more that went to a new home, but for the life of me, I can't remember what it was!
Brain Fart!
SOOOO, today, with all my little assistants back in school, the little girls are back in Daddy Day Care!  Ohhhh, I gotta share a WAY CUTE picture with you folks!  On Sunday, Miranda came up with Rozlynd to spend the day.  Shortly before closing, I did the whole diaper change thing, gave her a fresh bottle as her and Rozy were watching a movie.  20 minuets later, ready to head out, I went back into their room to get them ready for travel and THIS is how she fell asleep....

ADORABLE!!! My little puddam!
ANYWHO!
Below are the pic's of what done got built yesterday.

Back To (what poses for) Normal!

Ah yes, the true sign of the end of the Holiday season.  Cranky children being awoke early in the AM, being forced to clean and dress themselves in appropriate clothing.  The resounding "Whack, whack, whack" of Dad slapping a teenagers thighs as he refuses to roll out of bed.  The grumbles, and mumbled curses under their breaths as they are forced to motivate themselves to animation.  Then, at the last possible minute, the hurried dash for the door, the arguing over who's bike is who's, then the wave of the hand, the heart felt "have a good day" and the deep exhale of an audible sigh!
YAY!!!!
Yes, school is back in session, the shop is relatively void of the low incessant drone of bickering voices.  Gone, are the constant whiney demands for "drinks or snacks!".  Non present is the need to repeat the mantra "stop screaming, leave him/her alone!"
Perhaps, just perhaps, I'll be able to get something done today!
Speaking of "done", put out a SAH-WEET Nishiki Colorado MTB yesterday!  Light weight alloy frame, full frame up rebuild!  NICE!  Got in several more gems as well!  Thanks to Uncle Chippie for the donation of the old Fila ten speed!  This one need's a whole mess of work, but it's similar in style and size to the Jamis "BIG BOY" Boss Cruiser!  She gonna be NIIIICE when she done! Also, had another odd donation.  Young lady came in to sell an older mountain bike, but asked me quite pointedly, "Do I HAVE to give you my ID and leave a finger print to sell this bike?"  Well, when someone asks that, red flags go up, and the first thing I think is "STOLEN!"  Of course, we do the whole DOR registration which requires ID and fingerprint.  She was, in a word, annoyed.  Seems she had gone to the pawn shop, and got the same response.  Not wanting to feel like a "criminal" she asked if we took donations.  SURE!
I spent the majority of the day, yesterday, on EBay (Monday's are RE-new day!) and repairs.  Got around to builds about 1 pm and started on the old school Schwinn Frontier.  Surprisingly, given the state it was in, she's cleaning up real nice!  Had to replace a few parts, but we're going to have a sweet looking Cross bike when she's through.
ANYWHO!
As much as I'd love to visit more, I really have to get in gear and get things built!
Talk at ya lattah!

Here I Go Again, Patting Myself On The Back!

Well isn't amazing what one an get use too!  I spend an inordinate amount of time whining about how much time I spend on the computer each morning (Craigslist, Patch, Offer-up. Ebay and "cooking the books" not to mention this little dalliance here (although THIS one I enjoy! ( Hey, I'm a Leo...I LOVE to hear myself talk!)) But it's getting to the point where my surprisingly nimble fingers can dance across the key board and get it done splickety lick!  Barring any EBay slow downs, of course!  Those REALLY chafe my willy!
Have managed to not only help several customers already this morning, AND do two repairs, but actually got everything updated (well ALMOST everything, as I type here I'm updating THIS like, right now) BEFORE noon time!  YAY!
So, yesterday was a "bang, bang" day!  Had one of the funniest, if not potentially uncomfortable "ten minute rule" yesterday.  Had a gent call on Saturday inquiring about the Schwinn "Daily Banger Special" we had just put out.  He was very interested, but in Saint Pete, and would not be able to get up until Sunday.  I informed him to call me just before he came to ensure it was still here, and I would hold it long enough for him to come look at it.  He did Sunday morning and said he was on his way.  I went back to work and about a half an hour later a gent came in stating he was here about the Schwinn.  I put on my salesman hat and introduced the two, and he promptly took her for a spin.  Returning, he was smitten.  At that point however, I discovered he was NOT the gent who had called about it, as he walked into the shop announcing himself as the one who called about the Schwinn!
D'OH!
Thankfully, he was quite understanding about the mishap, and as it turns out, like the old school "BIG BOY" ten speed we had put out the day before, and as he was a tall, lanky bloke, it fit him better anyway!  So, two rides went happily to new homes at the same time!  SAH-WEET!
Of course, that was not all for the day.   Had a couple come in, vacationing from Canada, and were told that we were the spot to pick up a couple of good rides for the stay.  As at this point I didn't have much left, so they started to peruse bone row, and picked out a couple (pre-fixers) to have.  She liked the sweet 10 speed city bike (which was half done in the rack) and he's interested in the Schwinn Frontier we'll be getting to shortly.
Also, of course, were the repairs!  We thank you all so very, very much for not giving me an excuse to play online billiards!
Even amidst all that activity I still managed to get out a couple more!  One is a sweet men's 26" cruiser!  But please, don't get TOO excited.  it's sold already as I was typing this.  Seems a young lady up in Cleveland, Ohio heard about us from a neighbor up there who vacationed here last year, and told her this was the only place in Florida to get a quality re-furished bike.  Well, literally, that's TRUE!
ANYWHO!
Enough shameless, egotistical grand standing!  I got's me work ta do!
See y'all soon!

So close, I can smell it!

Thank Heavens folks are digging through their garages, sheds, back yards and what have you for more treasures!  Got several newbies yesterday and it was a building fest most of the day!  Sure had a few repairs thank you so much!) but the majority of the time was spent putting out goodies!  Got FOUR gems ready to travel, and I'm really liking the old school BIG BOY ten speed!  Back when they used colored cable housings!  The black frame and neon green housings really POP!  And all FOUR qualify as "DAILY BANGER SPECIALS!!".  Have NOT had enough of those over the past couple weeks, so the more economical shoppers are going to have a field day!
Today, will be more of the same as number five was already stripped and cleaned and awaits assembly as we speak!
YAY!
Today winds down the holiday vacation as the kiddos go back on Tuesday.  They had their last grasp at freedom last night, the majority of them staying up quite later as usual, as tonight, we are BCK ON SCHEDUAL!!  Fed, bathed and in bed by 8.30/9 and ten (different age groups, different bed times).  Perhaps this evening will allow some peace for Mom and Dad.
heh, heh.....RIGHT!
ALLRIGHT, without any more preamble, I'm gonna get at it!
See ya soon!

Another Day, Another String Of No-Prizes!!

Allrightyroo!
The little engine that could keeps on a pluggin'!
Yesterday, no surprise, saw more fun!  Not surprisingly, the Specialized Carmel left out of here first thing in the AM, no fuss no muss.  I have to chuckle at it, actually.  No, not the very wise gent who snagged it up, but the one potential buyer who gave a jingle the night I listed it, offering up $200.00 for it, cash as if it was a huge benevolent gesture.  He was doing me a favor taking it off my hands, as in his opinion we would never sell it for our asking price.
uh....hunh.
Well, given the fact that this is Florida and it is a hybrid, I was quite comfortable with the more then reasonable price we were asking for (not to mention how much work went into it!)  Obviously, several folks thought the same way, as after sending her home with a very enthusiastic customer, I got another five calls wanting it before I had the time to take it off Craigslist.
Also, sent the Sun Bicycle BIG BOY cruiser out pub crawling (...he took the red one.. ANOTHER No-Prize to anyone who gets THAT reference!) with an overjoyed gent.  I really thought the black one would go first.  No worries, I am sure that one won't last either.
After the morning chores were done (and the war waged with a stubborn computer and an even more tenacious EBay) I got on the repairs, banged them out (thanks, as always to ALL the fine folks for their unflinching faith!) then went on to builds. I managed to get one out.  Now before I hear an audible "Booooooo, hissssssss" this one needed a LOT of TLC!  But was SOOOOOOOO worth it!  A GORGEOUS Del Sol Low Boy three speed, pedal forward stretch cruiser!  "Oh Joy of Joys" (yep... another "no-Prize" if you can pin THAT one down) Yes, if Pub Crawling or cruising the Pinellas Trail is in your future, THIS is the ride for you!
ALSO, got many more newbies in for the full work up, so I have plenty to keep me jumping for the next couple of days.  But don't let that stop you from bringing me more!  "So much time, so little to do" (oh this is fun...ANOTHER no-prize if you get that one!)
I also have a "DAILY BANGER SPECIAL" in my rack, almost done!  And this is gonna be a bargain for someone, considering the fact I didn't pay TO much attention to it when it came in on a trade.  I flubbed and missed a few critical things, so I have ended up putting more into it then I had originally anticipated.  Oh well!  Live and learn!
SO, without further adieu, I'd best get at it!
"Heavy chores to do!"  (yep...that's a no prize quote TOO!)

It's About Bloody Time!

During my normal morning ritual, we came in this morning, opened, cleaned, then I shuffled down to the corner store to say my good mornings to the neighbors at our local "Quick Stop" (someday I'm going to put on a trench coat and baseball cap on backwards with a Bat Man logo T-shirt and hang out against the wall,   Special no-prize to anyone who get's THAT reference!) grabbing my morning coffee (and breakfast for the kiddo's in occupation) I always take a glance at the newspaper headlines on the way out.  I don't actually READ the paper (no time for that) but it gives me a small glimpse into the greater world outside my 3 mile radius comfort zone.  This morning gave me a moments pause to smile.  Seems that Florida has finally got it's thumb out of its patootey and joined the ranks of more enlightened states and legalized same sex marriages!  Now of course, there is going to be some folks out there with alum up their back sides who are going to contest this, and I'm sure we are going to hear more about court cases fighting the fighting (which of course is going to tie up the courts needlessly and cost the taxpayers money all because some Neanderthals just can't get with the times and give up the ghosts of bigotry) but all in all this is another victory for common sense and decency.  In short, just because YOU wouldn't, does not mean you get the right to deny others happiness!  Hey, like the song goes "any love is good love"!
And if they are reading, Angi and I have some friends down in Saint Pete that best get their keisters to the alter!  You know who you are!  Time to make an honest man out of him!
ON TO YESTERDAY!
As expected, the "day after" was slow.  Oh, we still managed to send another two to good homes!  The sweet Scratch Build went out with a regular of ours, with his old Schwinn Frontier as a trade.  That old ride has carried him about for more then thirty years, but it was time to switch.  She just needed more work then he could see fit to put into her.  No worries though, we are going to do the job and she'll be ready for another thirty by the end of today! ALSO, as mentioned yesterday, the old school Jamis we got in trade the day before sold in the rack (and I had three other people in who would have done the same had it not already been claimed!) I'm gonna throw a pic of it at you, just so you know how sweet it was!  AND as if the Holy Ghost himself heard our prayers, we got a BEVY of newbies in to boot!  And I am talking SAH-WEEEEET!  Three of them (pic below) are already done and out, and have received NUMEROUS calls about (up until 11:30 last night and starting at 7 am this morning!  WOOF!  Folks, let an old man sleep, please) (just kidding, I don't go to bed much before 1 am anyway!) These rides, believe it or not, had just been sitting in one of our regulars back yard for some time!  They needed a great deal of tender loving care but are SOOOOO worth it!  The first is a Large framed Specialized Carmel Hybrid!  I LOVE THE COLOR!  And MAN does she ride smooooooooooooth!   Then a pair of Sun Bicycle BIG BOY cruisers!  We hardly EVER get ones like this, and we get two in one shot!!  The ones that are not done (YET!) are a very (soon to be) gorgeous Del Sol 3 speed, pedal forward comfort cruiser stretch!  OH MAN!  This thing is going to be "wipe the drool from your chin" AWESOME!!! As mentioned we got the Schwinn Frontier (which already has a waiting list of folks that want to see what it looks like when it's done!  As if we wouldn't make it look anything but PRIME!) Also a small frame hybrid mountain bike that needs a bit of work, but is going to make someone 5'-5'6" VERY happy!  Also, an older ladies cruiser, that needs the "George Romero" special treatment (get it...Romero...Zombies....raised from the dead?  JEEZ!  If I gotta explain it, it aint' funny!) and two more kiddo bikes!  Needless to say, I am going to be a busy blistered baby today!
ON THE HOMEFRONT!
Last night was tear down!  The OFFICIAL end to another holiday season!  YAY!!! I was getting real tired of sweeping up pine needles and chasing Miranda around the house to wrestle pilfered Christmas tree bulbs and baubles from her, and washing her up after she devoured another heisted candy cane!  I....DON'T.....LIKE.....STICKY!!!!
I know, it's bizarre.  I have done a lot of gross jobs in my day, have stood waste deep in the filth of busted sewer pipes, crawled through insulation in attics, shoveled manure, even cleaned up after dead people but I cannot handle having anything "sticky" on me!
ANYWAY!!
With the help of a couple kiddos (and the constant insistence that Angela stop pushing herself) we got it down and done in record time.  Of course, at that point, faced with bare walls and door jams, Angela brought out her totes of silk flowers and decorations and got that intense gleam of contemplative creativity in her eye's.  That moment where she pauses, slowly scans the room, glancing occasionally at the materials before her, and you can almost hear the audible clicking of the gears in her brain.  At this point, I glanced at my clock, and realizing it was past midnight, gently prodded her to "wait until tomorrow".  Had I not, she would probably be still arranging things now!
The one thing we did realize (with all the wall's clear and having recently disposed of the living room couch...with six kids still in residence, the likelihood we are going to keep a piece of furniture past two years, is slim!) was that we are going to have to repaint...AGAIN!  Our Miss Miranda is a bit of an artist, her medium being Sharpies (supplied by her absent minded sibling who keep leaving them about) and walls!  ARRGH!  "Magic Erasers" and elbow grease only goes so far!!!
ANYWAY!
I am rambling at this point (like THAT'S anything new) and I REALLY need to get at it!  The Specialized I put out last night has already sold this morning, and I need to get out more goodies STAT!
See ya'll soon!

HAPPY AFTERMATH!!!

Ah yes, the true sign of the season!  Drunks being poured out of bars and labored home by reluctant, angry loved ones!
As you can see I have little tolerance for this holiday as well.
Got in this morning, and unlocking the door, some poor elder father, still looking as if he was in his PJ's was picking up his VERY inebriated son from the bar down the way. By the toxic smell he expelled, an open flame would have been a BAD idea!   The son then had the brilliant idea that it was a good day to go bicycle shopping.
yay for me.
Thankfully, the father, exasperated, grasped his elbow, redirected him and stuffed him into the passengers seat of his car, not unlike a police officer would.
No, for what it's worth, my opinion of this day is, it's just that, another day.  I've never seen the appeal, and would rather quickly scurry home and seclude myself from the dangers.  I will admit though, that last year, Angi and I went to Flanagan's pub downtown for the celebrations and I enjoyed my time with her, but this year, considering her injury, it would NOT have been good idea to have her sandwiched in an over capacity bar, rubbing elbows with slightly tipsy, and unwittingly clumsy people!  Hopefully she will be able to attend the Saint Patties Day celebrations when it comes around!
Yesterday was another whiz bang of a thriller!  Sent another four gems to new homes!  The three wheel recumbent did not make it past 10 AM before a gent from somewhere an hour and half away came into snatch it up!  And Golly Bob Howdy did we have fun trying to get it to fit on their bike rack!  There was the aforementioned Schwinn Aluminum Comp that went out first thing, and the Iron Horse went with a trade in of a "well loved" Jamis Boss Cruiser.  That one needed a LOT of work, and still sits in my rack half done.  But don't get TOO excited, it already sold first thing this morning now I just have to get it finished!  ALSO, after listing several bikes on Angi's new venue "Offer Up", we sent the Nishiki Colorado home with  visiting vacationer from....Colorado!  Although, I have to ponder,  with the legalization of Mary Jane there, how can the  residents even FIND their way out to go on vacation!
AH-WAKA-WAKA!!!
This morning, aside from the Jamis selling, we also sent the "Scratch Built" home with one of our regulars.  He too, brought in a trade in, this one a "PRE-Walmart" Schwinn Frontier.  I do like these rides as they were a less expensive alternative to a Specialized Crossroads or Trek 800, but built just a well!
NEEDLESS to say, my decorating plan of yesterday had to go by the wayside, as it was Jump Jolt and Jive all day!  But there's "NOTHING WRONG WITH THAT!!!"
Yes, of course, several repairs cam in and we say thank you and bless you all for your continued trust!
So, in conclusion...nothing new built. ARRGH!!  And we are once again WAY light!  But have NO fear, I'm jumping right on that problem and am going to try and pound out more pretty!
See ya soon!

It's 106 miles to Chicago, we got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark... and we're wearing sunglasses.

Hit it.
Nope. No significance to today's meanderings, just in a particularly jaunty mood!
Perhaps being punch drunk is due to ignoring my own proclamation last night that I was "Going to bed EARLY!".  Yes, once home, with dinner cooking I answered several children's inquiries regarding the evening plans with the identical response (I have to answer several of the same question EVERY evening SIX times!  "What's for dinner being the most popular"!) "Daddy's tired, I'm going to bed early!"  But, in their normal fashion, they always make the final plans.  Miranda fell asleep in her chair just before dinner, had a power nap, and awoke with renewed vigor!  OY!  Nothing would sway her determination to stay awake and wreak havoc in the household.  Dozer, as she has become known as, was her standard "tenacious" self, bound and determined to get into everything.  So, with Wa Wa Wubsie on in the boys room (do NOT ask me!  This show looks like a cross between a bad dream and a Pink Floyd acid trip!) the rest of us tried our best to keep busy, and stay awake.  After cleaning, and meandering about, Angi was poking around on her IPhone, and I took over control of the Wii (NO zombies that night!) and played Olympic sports. Yes...that's the closest I'LL ever get to competition!  I don't think they have an "Overweight Middle Age" classification of athletes at the Winter Games.  Eventually (about 1 am) Miranda gave up the ghost...But I STILL continued to play until 2.30!
UGH!!!
Angi's last comedic question as we shuffled off to bed was "I thought you were going to bed early?" with her best faux look of impish curiosity!
My wife...EVER the comedian!
ha.
Yesterday was another humdinger of a hoot a nanny!  Sold two right off the bat with another three smattered throughout the day!  Not to mention all the blessings of repairs.  I did manage to squeeze in one ride, finished just before closing.  And this one is a DANDY!!  In eight years we NEVER had one of these, and now, in the past four months, we have TWO!  Yes folks, ANOTHER three wheel recumbent!!!  SAH-WEEEEEEEET!
This morning is off to another good start (regardless of the fact that a real nippy cold front blew in last night!) with the Schwinn Aluminum Comp mountain bike FINALLY finding a new home!  Any bike here after a week is WAY old!  This gorgeous ride took close to two weeks to go bye, bye.  No idea why, she was a peach!  BUT, it went to one of our oldest customers, with this making the eighth ride he has bought so far (no, the others didn't break down, he and his wife would buy rides to donate to school kids who needed transportation.  They are crossing guards) and this one was for his son to replace the other one that was unfortunately stolen.
Today, I have a couple kiddo rides to put together, and that cruiser, then time permitting, I'm going to do a little redecorating.  All the chotskies and pictures on the wall need a good cleaning and switching around.  Some additions will be coming in, as I have been digging through some of the stuff at the house I'd like to find room to put up.  Anyone a fan of Smurfs?
 Hee, hee!
OK, so I best get at it!
See y'all soon!

Garfield was SOOO Wrong! Mondays Do NOT Suck!!

WOWZERS PENNY!!!
Yesterday was a blissfully blistering busy day!!  Sent SIX pretties to new homes, with four of them outfitting a wonderful family in from the outskirts of Chicago!  They'd only been in for a couple of days when a benevolent benefactor turned them on to us when they inquired about the "best" place to get bikes!  SAH-WEEEET!  We also "traded up" for a couple cute young ladies who had outgrown last years Christmas present WAY to quickly, according to Mom!
And the repairs?!  WOW!  Thanks to ALL the folks for their trust, patronage and keeping me jumping!  I NEVER get tired of the look of pleasant shock and exclamation's from folks when they find out just how cheap it is, and how quick they'll get them back!  Better then candy!  We had TWO full re-furbs and seven more random repairs, with another three picked up right before closing!  Folks, I gotta tell ya, beats wandering around the shop looking for something to do!  And spare time on my hands and access to EBay is DANGEROUS!  Although I have been able to accumulate several new decorations for the shop, currently en route via USPS!  Hee, Hee!
Ahhhh.  The joy's of PayPal!
ANYWHO!
Needless to say, did NOT get much built yesterday!  Did manage to put together two more little kiddo bikes.  As you would expect, this time of year we become depleted of bikes under 20".  About the only time of year that happens!  SOOOO, gotta build up some new ones!
I do have two more cruisers to work on.  One being my old motorized ride, and the other a long since abandoned repair that I have been holding now for a few months.  Don't ask me why, but sometimes folks bring in repairs and then just seem to forget about them.  In this case, he left it for a couple minor tweaks stating he'd be back later that afternoon.  I never saw him again, and his number has been disconnected?
Things like this give me pause to ponder his fate.  Was he abducted by aliens?  Super Secret Spy done away with by foreign agents?  Lost on Zombie Island? (OK, blame the kids for that one!  All their Zombie video games are giving me nightmares!)
Sorry....I digress.
A special thanks to Angi for finding a new venue online for getting the word out about us.  "Offer Up" is an Iphone type "seller to buyer" forum that hooks you up locally to folks buying and selling anything (legal).  All you do is snap a pic, post and your golden.  Sure, means a wee bit more time out of my day, but it will be worth it if folks can find out there is an alternative out there to high priced "Boutique" bike shops!  Which there is NO shortage of in Florida!  WOOF!
On the home front.  Angi just got back from the doctors. Sadly, her collar bone is not healing right, as it appears the break is coming back together misaligned.  The doctor is giving it another month and then checking her again.  If it turns out that it doesn't correct position, she will have to go in for the surgery to put in metal and screws.  I really hope it doesn't come to that.  Anytime she goes under the knife, I do worry for her.  Fingers, toes and eyes crossed!
All right peoples. I've rambled enough!  Now back to work!
PEACE!

Any Given Sunday.

Back at it again!
Sundays are quickly becoming our busiest days as many folks unable to visit us during the week, come in to say "HEY" and peruse our wares!  First thing this morning and already two minor repairs, a couple Looky Loo's and sent one ride to a new home!  keep it coming folks!  Got lots more where those came from!  But, as always, we could use some more!  Anyone thinking of moving some old rides they don't use anymore?  We're game!  Bring 'em in down!
Yesterday was all about repairs!  Thanks to all for giving us your trust, kind words, and keeping me busy!  Nothing new went out, unfortunately, as I really didn't have anything to work with.  Well, that's not ENTIRELY true.  A couple of the rides from our purge of the shed at the homestead were still out back.  Tore down my old motorized bike, removing the engine, and will be turning it back into a simple single speed cruiser!  This one has a unique history.  We built it for a customer about 5 years ago.  Ordered the higher end Sun cruiser BRAND NEW, and installed the motor. The buyer then put a few extra on, ended up spending close to a grand.  He used it for about a year, then brought it back to us and donated it!  Seems he got his use out of it (and got his license back) and had no further use for it!  SAH-WEET!  I tooled around on it for a few months, but quickly realized... I wasn't getting ANY exercise with a motorized bike!  SO, she sat in the shed for SOME time!  Now, the engine and all it's components stripped (and listed on EBay) I'll be cleaning up the rest!
Also, thanks to the gent who's daughter (a friend of Rozlynd) convinced him to bring in her old bike and donate it to the cause!  Yes, we will be able to give it a new life, and will try to do so today!
All the holiday treats and feasting have taken there toll on both Angela and I.  Suffice to say, has NOT been pretty the last 24 hours!  We are SOOOOO not use to that many desserts (donated to the household by our erstwhile neighbors) not to mention chocolates and a whole heck of a lot of starches!  WOOF!  My kingdom for a salad!!!
Or Pepto Dismal!!
ANYWHO!
I'd best get at doing something!
SEE Y'ALL SOON!!!

Happy Post Holiday Recovery!!
Yes, we were open yesterday, I just didn't have the strength to think, therefore didn't write.
No I needed the day to recover from the commercially exploited, Anglo Saxon usurped, Pagan holiday celebrating the incorrect day of our Saviors birth.
Yes, the day when you spend money you cannot afford to buy children gifts they don't deserve and you spend the evening sweeping up all the broken pieces, while mentally calculating all the money you are about to throw away, while you listen to them fight over who gets to play the video game next, and chase after them with a bucket because their tummies don't agree with all the sugar they just imbibed!
Merry Christmas!
BAH...HUMBUG!
In reverence to the Holiday, I will regale you of one of the more redeemable facets of the season, Christmas Movies!!!
Yes, today I give you...

TOP FIVE CHRISTMAS MOVIES!!

#5
Proof that Henry Winkler could be more then the Fonz!  His transformation at the end is quite heart warming, almost as pleasurable to watch him as a maniacal old curmudgeon!

#4
This one, although heavily saturating the air waves in the past, is always a joy to watch this time of year.  The epitome of the Holiday season, and what to be thankful for.

#3
OK, low grade animation, but anyone my age can remember the treat of staying up late that time of year being treated to  popcorn, and the excitement of the spinning "SPECIAL PRESENTATION" proclaiming the forth coming attraction!  Not to mention Schroder's catchy Christmas jam, and the resultant dance fest.

#2
Although there are a few versions ("Scrooged" being a close second) in my opinion this one is the best.  Mr. Scott portrays  the crotchety skinflint with exquisite execution making his realization and transformation at the end all that much more effective.  Not to mention, the chilling effect of the incidental music and sound effects of "The Ghost of Christmas Future"  *SHUDDER!*

And the BEST Christmas move that epitomizes the true meaning of Christmas!

#1
What's more Christmassy then a dysfunctional family, constant fighting, marital strife, infidelity, delinquent children, the pursuit of ill gotten wealth and being forced to spend time with family you really can't stand? Cap it off with the angry humor of Dennis Leary, and you CAN NOT go wrong!  Make's me smile every time!

So there you have it!
OK, so now, I'll leave you with our latest addition up for sale, and I'm gonna get back at it!

Obligatory Holiday Greetings

MERRY CHRISMAKWANZANUKKAH!!
Well, another year winding down to a close and I have tried my very best to get into the holiday spirit.
Enh, not so much!
This has been a HELL of year!  And I don't mean that in the "winning team player exclaims, "That
was a HELL of a game!" sort of way, more like the "middle age marathon runner who had a coronary half way through the 5K, but still managed to finish, three day's later" sort of "HELL of  year"!
Now believe me, as much as I have every right to pitch camp in a clock tower, my only companion a sniper rifle and a weeks worth of rations and ammunition and start pecking off "all those who have wronged me" I ain't that way.  No, I have sighed MANY a sigh of relief and that's what I'm sticking with!  Many good folks (and you KNOW who you are) have come to the aid of both myself personally, and my family at large, and that alone has given me the strength to sally forth!  I will take from all of this, a learning experience.  There have been mistakes and missteps made, that will NOT be repeated.  I've forged stronger armor, polished it, and wear it proudly into the battles to come.  I can only hope, that with hard work, next year will be better, for all of us!
ANYWHO!
Yesterday, was as expected, a bluster of activity early on, then flattening out as folks hustled about in the last mad dash to finish up preparations for family coming in, or them going out.  HECK of a lot of fun riding home last night!
Sent a couple rides home to await there time in the sun under the tree, and managed to build three more (which I featured yesterday afternoon) and two of them already went to thrill two little girls, this morning!  I have a what will be a pretty sweet Raleigh MTB in my bay, as we speak.  Another frame up rebuild I'm still digging for the remainder of the needed parts, which I will get back to shortly!
After work, Angi and I did the last little run for a few more trinkets (and the rest of the Holiday meal)  then home, scary ghost show, and passed out!
Today, we will most likely be closing around three, unless folks are giving me a reason to stay later (HINT, HINT!!!) So we'll see how it goes!
OKEY DOKE!
Now, back to work!  If I don't see ya, have a wonderful holiday and gird your loins for '15!

Industrious!

WOW!
What a difference lights make!!  Now customers won't have to shop using the brail method!  Can't believe those lights were up there this whole time!  SHEESH!!
Well, I made my goal of getting those BMX'ers done, and still have enough time to start another project!  SAH-WEET!  Now...if I can just find something to work on!
Oh well!
Check out these gems just in time for the final Christmas push tomorrow!  Best hurry in first thing (or in the final 1.5 hours today!  AWESOME deals on these rides!

Pass The Ham! There Is A Santa Clause!

Kudos to our folks for pitching in again this year!  We were actually able to afford to buy a few things for the kiddos to put under the tree!  YAY!  Suffice to say, I got no shame, this white knuckle summer we endured left us in the red...BIG time!  Twer' it not for benevolent landlords, we would have been spending the holiday season in a church basement or something!  But, thanks to the milder climate over the last couple of months we are starting to come out of it!  Unfortunately, it didn't leave us anything for merry making this season!  Thankfully, we are blessed with children who don't do the whole "is that ALL I get?" thing.  No, we are fortunate that they (for the most part) appreciate what they get.  Angela and I hit the Wal-mart (DON'T JUDGE ME!) yesterday (after some feverish Amazon shopping, of course!) and picked them all out some goodies.  Yes, I know, WAL-MART?  As much as I chide them, they're still the only real option you have for folks on a tight budget (sad face).
Yesterday was a whiz bang of activity, thank you all so very much!  A whole heap of repairs came in, and was humming away on them!  Managed to get them all done, so that was sweet!  ALSO,  put out THREE new sweeties!  That flub I started on Saturday got finished up, and was WELL worth the effort!  A sweet looking and even sweeter riding "Scratch Build"!  Also. we had a ladies Trek 700 Multitrack kicking around the back for sometime, waiting for a set of wheels!  So, with the flub being a 26", we used the wheel to get that one up and running.  Was going to use them on the Peugeot, but it didn't work out.  It needs a set of 27 1/4, and a three speed to boot.  Spacing was all wrong.  Then, managed to throw together what turned out to be a pretty sharp looking "Daily Banger Special" in the guise of a 26" dual shock MTB!
SO, anyone who has visited us knows that this place is a little like a cave.  For some ungodly reason when we first moved in, we recognized that there were NO lights in the front half of the shop.  Don't ask me why.  I went out and picked up some clip on drop lights to help, but not by much.  Well, when I came in this morning I noticed that the light over the video section was out. In fumbling around with the light cover, I had to pop up the adjacent celling tile and in poking my head up there (and getting that bloody insulation down the back of my shirt) lo and behold I noticed there were THREE light boxes up there!  Now curious, I had to test whether they worked or not.  After some shifting around, I discovered, THEY DID!!  So now, waiting on Kaleb to head to the hardware store and get me some light tubes, this place may actually be brightened up!!!  HUZZAH!!!  Angela was quick to point out that they were my Christmas Present! HA!
ANYWHO!
Got some more repairs in first thing and three more BMX'ers in trade for my troubles!  SOOOOO, got me some work ta do!
OH, by the by, yes we ARE open tomorrow, but will be closing at 5pm (or earlier if the muse is upon us)  We don't do a heck of a lot the night before, other then the traditional reading of the "Tomten" before tuck in's.  Then, begins the mad rush of filling up the bottom of the tree, the eating of the cookies for Santa and carrots for the reindeer (ghastly combination) and Mom and Dad sigh a heavy relief, flop in bed and pass out, awaiting the mad early morning rush!
SO, without further adieu, I'd best get to crackin'!
Special shout out to my buddy Dan.  Ain't seen him in sometime, but always good to BS with a fellow Yankee.  And he's way the "nahthanah" (pronounce it just the way it's spelt), a Southy'!  Now Angela is probably cringing, as a few minutes with someone from up there brings out the "Masshole" in me BIG TIME!
See y'all soon!
