It Has Begun....

As with every morning it was a higgly piggly roust of children, groggy and half conscious stumbling about in preparations for the day.  Dad, perched in his throne of power (south end of the couch) was barking out orders, occasionally making repeat trips to the boys room to make sure everyone in question were thoroughly motivated, and of course after dual diaper changes and bottles (with the appropriate amount of cuddle time) plopped the baby girls in front of the video babysitter (today's selection, "Spongebob").  After confirming that all children of school age had in fact NOT chosen to dress in yesterdays clothes and in fact said clothes were clean (Owen has the bad habit of putting on the previous days shirt, but in attempts to deceive dad turns it inside out to hide that days stains) and that the strip of hair on the back of Rozlynds head was "knot free" we began the sometimes hairy (not to mention nerve racking) ride to school.
As is the norm. Logan, tried and true quickly took up point, well distance from the bulk of the parade.  A ride of determination, Owen zig zagging from left to right oblivious to oncoming traffic is met with a barrage of "STAY TO THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE ROAD!" Kaleb of course, still groggy and reluctant to even get to school languishes in the rear.  Rozlynd of course falls in lock step with dad and begins a unflinching rhetorical conversation regarding events and topics while most probably of major import to a nine year old girl, is frequently met with a strained degree of bemused interest by a 45 year old male who has had no where near enough coffee.
Half way to school in the middle of a diatribe about what she would do if she were in charge of the school there was a call from across the street.  A meek little voice called out "Rozlynd" and without breaking a vowel her speech broke with a determined "Out of my way, Dad!" and she was off in a shot!  A young boy, presumably her age but a good foot shorter (we breed 'em big!) carefully crossed the street to meet up with her, now waiting patiently for him. As I approached the meeting spot I witnessed him hand her a small, freshly picked flower.  She paused, glanced at it and then giving it no more thought began to talk to him, at great length of Pokemon.
Heh.
I must say, as much as I experienced a sharp pang of trepidation, and remorse for my loss of prominence in her mornings attention, it was quiet cute.
And telling.
As my little girl shares a genetic, temperamental and personality likeness to that of my sister (with a tad bit of my mother and my wife mixed in) I was not at all surprised at her choice of men.
He was smallish, cleanly dressed, quiet (one might say meek) with glasses and an attentive smile. All the rest of the way to school she prattled on and he quietly maintained in rapt interest.
As I have always suspected my little girl will grow up to fall in love with a man she has complete control over!
ANYWAY!
Thanks to Dan for paying us a visit and shooting the s#$@ for a while this morn" (us displaced Yankees have to stick together!) as the conversation morphed into spinning yarns about our respective youths growing up up North and our occasional encounters with the supernatural.
OH yes!  Short of viewing it on the  discovery channel I haven't met anyone who grew up down here that can relate to the experience, but next time your in and if you got the time I'd be more then happy to regale you with tales of coexisting with the great beyond!

Managed to get out two new goodies yesterday (in between repairs, and an ongoing Firefly marathon on my recently acquired DVD set of the entire series (sadly only 14 episodes)) so feel free to check 'em out as now I must get to work on building more!
