LORD,,,It's gotta be Friday!

Surprisingly for a shop that's open 7 days a week and a staff that works all of those seven days (are you kidding me I couldn't get rid of 'em) People around here git kinda goofy on Friday!  Not that any of us are partiers (well maybe Zombie-boy) but not the rest of us fogies, not so much!  I guess its just residual regular workers hours but this place never (hardly) sleeps!  Well Today has been a BEE-O-tiful day.  Angie and I did a rare thing today and snuck away to have a sit down lunch, in like a real restaurant, with tables and stuff, and real food!  Wow, go figure!
Every ones been busy little beavers around here, have put out two so far and working on more.  Switched Matt to specials (as Zombie-boys just way to full!) Mikes working (still) on a Mongoose MTB, Looks nice but h forgot to do a parts check, and once he though it was done, Zombie-boy road tested it and it turns out the shocks are bad, so back to formula (back to...FORMULA!!) Hopefully it'll be done by the end of the day.  I got another Cruiser on my rack, just gotta re-build the rear end an she'll be ready to go!
So enjoy the candid album below of all of today's hijinks's, and we'll talk to ya tomorrow!
This is what happens when you ca't find the ladder

at least thats why I hope there doing it *shudder*

"a little to the left...oh thats it!"

"No seriously, it's THIS big!"

"Better work on your aim, Zombie Boy!"

wait for the set up

this place just makes ya want to dance

not that I'd call this "dancin"

"We are the Pirates...that don't do anything..."

Confession time.  Whilst sitting with Izy this morning (attempting to do laundry) But little Miss would have none of that.  She has her little rocking chair that at times is required to be foot powered (IE.  sit on the sofa put her on the floor and rock her with your big toe) and today for whatever reason she wouldn't let me stop.  Well I had put in a DVD for her to zone out to (yes bad parenting, but I have chores too) I had selected for her viewing pleasure "Veggie Tales: the Pirates Who Don't Do Anything."  Well I was out of options (if I have to watch Dragon Tales again I'm gonna hurl) So, I gotta tell ya, I enjoyed IT!  Yes sad reality, but the stories pretty engaging, and the bits are funny!  I found myself still sitting thereto the end (and watching the special features) long after Izy dozed off.  So there ya have it...I'm a closet Veggie Fan (but that don't mean I'm stopping eating salads)
So work was a hoot as always.
Side note;  the events of last night were resolved.  Peacefully (somewhat)
So after arriving here my bride headed home and it was just us GUYS!  Yes we did in fact get in some work between limbo's.  Zombie-boy had to bow out for the day (another bike related injury) I swear he has no luck.  Matt finished a real sweet three-Wheeler, Mikes been putsin' on er-pairs, and I put out two more 20" and a Beach Cruiser.  Had a lot of interest in the Raleigh that went out yesterday, but it didn't go home with anyone...yet. Mostly re-pairs and Parts went out today.  I'm really proud of Angie and the guys keeping up with things around here during the day.  All I gotta worry about when I get in is putting out product.  It's nice to sometimes get things your way!
Thanks to all the nice folks coming by to say hey today.  And the young couple who stopped by the house looking for a bike to buy, thanks for venturing further up the hill!
And a special SHOUT OUT to all are new friends in (and sorry if I miss anyone) South Korea, Slovenia, Germany, Spain, France and Peru!
Also on the Over seas front, Angela in her ever expanding friend base of fellow Twihards (38 countries so far) she has met up with a young man attending college in India.  She informs me that in there conversations she has turned many folks attention to the plight of re-usable resources.  As it turns out this young man has consulted with his professor (of marketing) and they have decided that this years final project shall be for each of the students to come up with ideas and marketing campaigns for businesses dealing in re-useable/re-cycled goods and services!  I am so flippin PROUD!  I can't wait to see some of the concepts they come up with!
Well I'm signing off outta here early tonight!  I filled my quota, now I'm gonna git a shower and some shut eye!
Love ya'll

Well as with any family when the lpha dogs away the rest of the male pups vie for space, and as I was just sitting down to re-gail with tales of swashbucking adventure my much frazzled (and furiously frustrated female) love has just calle to inform me that the too oldest males are at each others scruff.  After breaking it up they have been placed silently on the couch and await the arrival of the alpha male (yours truly) to do some serious barking!
But in short heres the goodies we put out today!

Hull-ah-BalOO!

Oh today was a real HOOT!  (no sarcasm this time!)
Started my day backwards!  Came in this morning, instead of doing the house-husband bit.  Momma was having the daughter-in-law over for a Twi-Hard get together (yep it's laundry time again!) so I (willingly) got booted outta' the house.  WORKS FOR ME!!  Got a chance to get going on more stock!  Things are blowing out again (now that all you wonderful folks realize we have stock again!) hence why I'm here so late tonight!  I broke at 8 pm to go home and make dinner, home made Mac'n cheese (OK Velveeta and a box ah elbows) But I cooked Broccoli (OK, again the little ones don't eat 'em...We gave up tryin') But after Dinner I convinced (conned) momma into lettin' me come back 'cause I was DYING to finish the project I started today...(DUM, DUM, DAHHH!)  The '68 Skymaster!  YES!!  I took pics, but unfortunately they don't do it justice.  The color is emerald green flake, but the pics real dark...sorry!  But compared to how it looked when it came in...WOOF!  What a diff!!
Matt put out a banger today, and Mike's been helpin puttin' out some more charity pieces (thanks bud) Got another call from the church and we're happy to help!  Zombie-boy, deep in the throes of moving has been a BIT scatter-brained, and has been burning the candle at both ends, plus he played erstwhile errand-boy today, and spent the better part of his day re-arranging his bay.  He says he likes a "clean hole".  OY!
Lots a goodies blew outta heah' today, the Schwinn...gone, the Avalon (put out last night)...gone, the X-games BMX...gone, 2 little girls bikes for a B-day tomorrow...gone.  So it behooves us to get out more goodies for you all to peruse!
And to top it off, we played musical trivia today and had a makeshift dance competition (don't do the bump with Mike though, he'll bust your hip!  Matt's still limpin'!  And Oh you should have heard my faithful rendition of Blondie's, "Heart of Glass"  I was belttin' it out.  Almost as good as a bobcat in a blender!
Well, as I'm sure my loving, understanding, beautiful and sexy wife (see honey I DO say nice things about you) is wondering why I'm taking so long, I best be on my way for the night.
But fear not true believers...I shall re-turn.
Excelsior!

blured lines in the road...

Ever been on a long road trip, at night and nothing to do or see except road and median, if you stare to closely at the road everything just becomes a blur?  Doesn't life sometimes feel that way?  Don't want to seem so philisophical, 'specialy 7 o'clock on a Sunday.  But that's the point I'm at.  Not that anything really wrong went...wrong, just...like...woof!  Feel blurred.  More then a few times today I found myself standing in the dungeon, with some odd tool or another in hand wondering "what was I doing?"  Oy!
Well seems like the family and I are come to one of those "junctures" in life.  After living for three years in the same house here in Clearwater, Angela and I have been wanting to move.  Not out of the area mind you, just the house.  Shame to, 'cause we like the locale.  Truth be told, for the last year and a half or so (we discovered this past June, by way of "Lawyer" mail, our land lord has not been paying the mortgage.  Yep.  Sadly, not to uncommon a story nowadays.  Not that we've been given the official "heave Ho" but knowing how the laws "really" work in this state, it's only a matter of time.  And as it turns out a house half a block away from us (that we have coveted for the last 2 years) has come available.  So if all goes according to plan...we'll be moving Dec 1st.  I guess it's just I'm not to crazy about change, 'specialy not with kids.  I want them to have stability.  Well hopefully this move will last!
OK enuff a dat! (pity party over)
Today WAS a fun day!  All folks were in attendance, and the joint was hummin'!  Lots of upgrade builds in the works.  Matt's workin' on another three wheeler, Mike picked out a MTB, Mongoose to do a brushed aluminum number with, Zombie-Boy (as usual) is working on about 6 projects at once (all the while working on about 2 or 3 more in his head, and I finished this little Mongoose "scratch build" and ten started working on the '68 Skymaster I've been wanting to do for awhile! (metallic Emerald green when she's done should be a real peach!)  Sold the 24" pacific, three little kids bikes.  I love it when the fathers bring there sons in to buy bikes.  The sons always try so hard to be big grown up men when there with their dads.  Paying very close attention, watching how there dads react, and mimic them.  So cute!
Several re-pairs visited us today (thank you), and bought a couple of nice (when they're done) vintage pieces (his and hers).  So in closing...we have to get our keisters in gear this next week to build up more goodies, but have no fear, will have plenty more for you to see!

Sunshine...lollipops..

ever have a moment, when writing searching for a title and your mind draws a blank as to what would best capture the feel of your piece.  Well try my little trick.  Clear your head, then pause and wait for the first thing that pops in...Look what I'm stuck with!
Well please forgive our lack of productivity on new stock today.  I was two men down, and had our normal run of sat re-pairs come in.  The Ladies cruiser, Gary Ficher, and XR-75 found good homes today and Zombie-boy is practically giggling out of his shorts over the killer sweet deal HE got today.  I am WAYYYYY to generous a man!  A wonderful couple eager to get back into riding (CONVERTS!) came in today top get themselves a couple of cruisers.  She walked out with the lovely Blue cruiser, and he a has order a "just Go Crazy, as long as its green" cruiser.  As trade for his cruiser he relinquished a PRISTINE! 1985 Cannondale road bike (yes I'll pause a moment while you compose yourselves).  And as payment for building the cruiser (and 2 other jobs) Zombie-Boy gets to keep the Cannondale. Now Mr Jay has 2 Cannondales.  Hey I feel no regrets I am MORE then happy with my '77 Schwinn...thank you very much.  Not to mention the flab in my butt would HANG over that tiny seat (sorry for the scary visual image..hope you weren't eating)
Thanks to all the fine folks who braved the icy cold Florida temps today.  Was great to see you all, and the XR went to a regular, traded in the bike he bought from us last year.  Always nice to deal with family!  Got slow in the afternoon though, but that was a hidden blessing gave Matt and I an opportunity to do some MUCH needed cleaning in the back!  It was NUTS back there.  and where the %^&$! did all those wheels come from!?!?!  I'm gonna build a bike with 31 wheels just to get rid of some 'em!
Buying?  OH YES my pretties, we got gobs of goodies, another trailer full (hence the necessity of cleaning) 4 bangers, a nice (when we're done with it) cruiser, 2 More Mongoose MTB'S, a real nice ladies Schwinn road bike, and a little mongoose 7 speed I'm converting to a single as we speak...well not RIGHT now...hey I'M not even THAT good, but you get the point!
Well I think I've wasted enough ink (not to mention your time) blithering, so 'till 2-morrow...
May all the Haters find peace, love and contentment (and if not may they get a scorching case of bunions)
It took AWHILE but she's a beaut!

Come to Warm, Sunny Florida?

What the...?!?!
So, I'm up this mornin' 'bout 5.30 in the a of m (yea, believe me I join in your collective groans) feed Izy, shes a little feisty for that early and doesn't go back to sleep right away so I pump in caffeine to stay awake, then she zonks and I'm left wide eyed.  Soooo..... Coffee in hand I step out on the lanai to have a smoke.  Now mind you I went to bed last night well aware the temp had dropped a WEE bit yesterday, so I had put on my trusty (yet well worn) flannel.   Have you ever seen the cartoons where the changing of seasons is depicted between a background of fall, and in the very next cell appears a 14 foot tall wall of snow?  Well that's what happened this morning.  No not the snow, but a sudden and sharp dip in temp somewhere between the first and third sip of coffee!!!
Even as a displaced Yankee I have my limits!
Last nights movie feature went well (as to be expected with six children vieing for space around a small screen, all while fighting over the bowl of snacks) Toy Story 3 (spoiler alert) is a real bittersweet tear jerker, no wonder it did so well in the theaters.  And the kids actually stayed awake through the whole thing this time (good thing to 'cause if my kids get any bigger I'm gonna throw out my back carrying them to bed!)
And just how bad was the wind last night, came to the shop this morning and fund a coating of BEACH sand all in front and on the windows?  We're like 3 miles from the water!  Woof!
Already bought three more goodies this morning!  Nice little mongoose BMX with a MTB style chrome rear swing arm (SWEET!) and another couple bangers!
A few brave souls have ventured out this morning, and looks like we may have a buyer for the Gary Ficher that went out last night (no surprise though, its a real sweety!)
By the By,,, Security tip number 7: When purchasing and owning a bike, always right down the serial number AND what make, model...and color the bike is!  In the unfortunate chance that the bike gets stolen it will help in reporting the theft!  I don't want to relay the whole story of  unpleasantness that  occurred here last night, but suffice to say that while I share in anyone sense of violation in the theft of their bike, getting aggravated with me because I can't help you locate your stolen bike, when you can't remember what it looks like, or even what it was does not imply guilt on my part. We're all about helping and have recovered 31 stolen bikes so far (yes even though most of the would be gangsters around here KNOW we report our purchases to the police, some still try).
Anywho..the shop is alive with the sounds of machinery ( I almost sounded JUST like Julie Andrews there for a second) I just love show tunes! (what? why you snickerin') and it beckons me.  I think I 've spent enough time dallying on the 'puter for the morn...although check out some of the neat stuff I found below

OK folks I'm on a time limit here!  Its Friday night movie night and I'm late so I gotta talk quick ('sides, tonight's feature is Toy Story 3 and I have been dying to see it!)  so, the cruiser (men's) put out last night went out this morning to a newcomer to our area, who was quite flabbergasted that we existed and this bike was so cheap!  Thank you kind sir for the wonderful compliment!  Also, the '62 Raleigh went to a man of impeccable taste!  Who could blame him, she's a real beaut!

Old home week!

Okely Dokely, didn't get to much done until later today, had some re-pairs (thank you) and spent the better part of my morning re-connecting with long lost friends!  It was incredible, folks I haven't seen in over two decades, and we were yakin' like old times (gosh, I sound like an old codger...I remember WAY back in the summer of '86...*cough!cough!*) but I'll tell you it was some fun!  Never thought I'd live long enough to reminisce!  And I'll tell you after 20 odd years they don't look all that different!  Although a couple are grandparents now...AHHHHH!  Boy now I feel REAL old!
Ah well, on to biz-ah-nis!
Aside from re-pairs (again..thank you) the Pink Schwinn, and Townie Electra (after many stops and starts) are OUTTA HEAH!  Like an albatross around my neck...
Put out two SWEET lookin' cruisers, male and FEMALE (HUZZAH! haven't had 1 in WAY to long!) and waiting on Matt and Mike to finish there latest additions (always pick your projects...wisely)  Matt's workin on the Gary Fischer (lookin' REAL good!) should be complete tomorrow, and Mikes got another BMX to put out.  Me? tomorrow Zombie-Boy and I start another 2 three wheelers (after he finished the freakin Raleigh he's draggin' his toucas on) So as the night has closed in I must wish you all a fond good evening as I'm off to dinner and a shower!
Love and kisses!

OK, OK I"M UP!!

but I ain't happy...
Well as I knew it would happen the rampant sickness at the house hit me day before last, about 2 am.  Like a runaway freight train! I am NOT keen on being sick (and I make a lousy nursemaid, and an even worse patient)  Most everyone knows LET...DADDY....SLEEP!  Most of the kids know to adhere to this rule but not Owen, and to some extant Rozy.  Momma did a great job holding down the fort here at the shop, and the guys helped out and kept going!  So I can't report to much on the activities of the last two days, other then to say the re-pairs keep coming in (again thank you to all for trusting us with your rides) and the Diamondback BMX left yesterday (and got another cool one in its place (will be ready in a little while) They also made some real nice buys yesterday a sweet single speed ladies cruiser and another three wheeler amongst them! YAY!  And I'm trying to get in the swing of things.  Angela (after pushing herself past her OWN bout of the sickness) came in yesterday and it took its toll.  She and I were vying for sleep time last night, and for some reason I just couldn't get back to sleep, so between taking care of a cranky Izy, I sat up and read classic "Uncle Scrooge" comics until about 5 am.  Whoever said reading will help you sleep have never enjoyed classic Don Rosa, and Carl Barks comics!  Ain't no sleepin' with them adventures!
Went in early this morn after bringing the kiddos to school ("HURRY UP! (whine, whine) we're gonna be late for breakfast) and was checkin the 'puter and 'lo and behold an old friend of mine from WAY BACK (elementary school) tracked me down.  I responded the friend request then went through his friend list and an ensuing walk down memory lane took place!  He had obviously gone to great lengths to track down many of our old classmates, and they in turn had tracked down, or stayed in touch with others (ain't tech grand) so I sent out MANY friend requests to folks I 'aint heard from in over two decades!  Should be interesting to see what they've all been up to, and in turn be interesting to hear their reactions to the fact that I procreated!(nine times)  Well I've indulged enough in this dalliance, to work I must!  We need more goodies for the weekend!

Crawlin' from the Reekage...

Nope, I didn't misspell it.  A household of persons with a NASTY stomach virus, the term "reeks" applies.  I have thoroughly lysoled that house from top to bottom!  All while trying NOT to get ill myself.  Angela tried to hold out, but try and keep a good momma from kissin' her kids when they don't feel well!  Like trying to teach a bobcat how to swim...painful, and pointless. Needless to say I'm really just now gettin' back to work, and work I must.  When the term "God will provide" is tossed about here at RE-Cycle, it applies!!  In the last two days the guys have accumulated ALOT of really cool stuff!  Amongst others, 2 GT MTB's, Trek 700 Multi track, Giant Sedona, a Crumpy racing BMX frame!!!, 2 Cruisers, Ladies Trek 830,Mongoose XR-75, Mongoose XR-100, A HARO MOUNTAIN BIKE...WOW! several tires and Wheels and other assorted goodies.  So we have are work cut out for us, and I'm so giddy I don't even know where to start! Can I get a WOOP,WOOP!!  And in the nick of time as the last wave to be put out are starting to dwindle down again. So without further blabbering on my part I am back to work.

The Morning after....

What a fun time (do you detect the sarcasm?) last night was.  All geared up and ready to take the kids out trick or treating the girls were struck by the stomach virus that had gotten Elijah the night before, anyone with kids that have had to go through the "exodus" know what we went through, and to those of you who haven't I would hate o gross you out, so I'll withhold the gory details.  Suffice to say, that as the evening progressed it hit Owen, then Kaleb and we were up until 4.30 am this morning (I until 2 my wife till 4.30) so dragging our collective butts, we did our morning duty, and I had to come in to finish up the Raleigh from last night.  Oh I'm so proud of this beauty.  Got two more little one bikes together last night and are continuing in to more today.  So with out any ado...
