After 7 years there is one constant I can always count on, and I try very hard when it occurs not to strike a knowing smirk. Not unlike the visual clue the former "Commander and Chief" would strike whenever he was asked a question he knew the truth to but held back honesty. That is when a customer will come in and check out a bike they like but for whatever reason hold of on the purchase in the interest of comparative shopping. Now I am in full support of getting the best deal for your buck but sometimes I wish I had the nerve to just tell the folks not to waste their time, gas and avoid sticker shock. But not liking the "used car salesman" high pressure I wish them a good day an end them on their merry way.
Until....
Some time later in the day they meander back in, clearly overwhelmed by the obvious forced education they had received by what bikes go for in those "other" shops! Sometimes the ride they were looking at is still here, then again sometimes it's gone. These past couple days have been laced with such parables! One of the gents that was in here this past weekend (read my rant from that day) who was rather rude to another customer and became upset that we didn't sell all our bikes for under $50.00 came back in yesterday to pick up the $55. men's MTB we HAD. Then once again his ire was up because we didn't have it anymore for him to buy. Had a couple come in and check out the Flip-hub, then choose to check out some other local places. Luckily they became aware of what a great deal it was quickly enough as they checked out a couple other close places and realized the same style bike there was 2 to 3 times as expensive! And came in to snag it up. Good thing as I was on the phone at just that moment talking to a gent who had checked it out on Sunday, choosing the same course of comparative shopping and desperately wanting to know if we still had it! And if that wasn't proof enough of our value, just after getting off the phone with him and completing a sale on the gorgeous Fuji Flair with a lovely couple from the UK, another bloke called wondering if we still had the Fuji Flair he checked out on Monday!
WOW! "There's strange things afoot at the Circle K!"
I tell you this with no small glint of pride, and ego in reserve. We are about value and trying to get the right person on the right ride. No pressure!
ANYWAY!
Managed to put out one real cute gem yesterday (sorry busy with repairs! THANK YOU for your trust!) a nifty little Schwinn Stingray replica (LORD, I wish it was an original!) A true trip down memory lane! Also have another three wheeler about 90% done (this one was a BEAR!) and will be shooting its pics and stats on Craigslist shortly!
So with that I best get back to work!
See y'all soon!
